Charlotte Diane Cooper

July 26, 1959 — June 30, 2022

Charlotte Diane Cooper, 62, of Gillis, LA, passed away at 4:08 PM on Thursday, June 30, 2022 in her residence.

Ms. Cooper was born July 26, 1959 in Shreveport, LA and lived all of her adult life in the Lake Charles area.  She was a 1977 graduate of Sam Houston High School and received her degree in accounting.  She worked several years at Circle K, then at Cracker Barrell, where she was in the kitchen and later at Walmart in Sulphur in the electronics department.  She also worked throughout the years for H&R Block during tax season.  Ms. Cooper was a previous member of Grace Baptist Church.  She collected Barbie’s and loved her cat, but her true passion in life was for her family.  She will be remembered as an outspoken, big-hearted, and goofy lady who loved to travel and loved everything purple.

Ms. Cooper is survived by her son, Bryan Joseph Richard (Rhonda) of Lake Charles; daughter, Candida Proctor (Christopher) of Gillis; sisters, Margaret Gardiner, Lenis Prine, Jodie Lyles Brown, Diana Pailette (Jerril) and Crystal Sipes; brothers, Scott Cooper (Martha) and Allen Cooper; step-mother, Mary Cooper; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, God-children, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Mary and Jack Lyles; and father, Otto Cooper.

The family and friends will gather on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.

The family would like to express a special word of thanks to Heart of Hospice, especially to Missy, for the care and compassion given.

Donations can be made to the family to help with expenses.
