Charlotte Kay Wheat

December 21, 1948 — August 30, 2018

Charlotte Kay Wheat, 69, passed away peacefully into eternity on Thursday, August 30, 2018 in a local care center after a lengthy illness.  Kay was born to Jesse and Dahlia Wheat on December 21, 1948 in Deridder, LA.  She lived most of her life in Sulphur.  She was a graduate of Sulphur High School and holds a BA and MEd from McNeese State University.  She taught English at LaGrange High School, McNeese State University and Sulphur High School.  Kay was a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur where she sang in the worship choir and Agin’ Cajuns.  She was a master bible scholar and could touch heaven with her prayers.  He passion was her love for Jesus and her family.  She was a 1965 graduate of Sulphur High School, the same year the Tors were state football champions resulting in her being an avid sports fan.  Her other favorite team was Mississippi State. 

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Joshua Thomas Wheat and his fiancé Tiffany Brooke Parker; her grandchildren, Kaitlynn Elizabeth Wheat, Kallen Morvant and Cariana Morvant; her sister Stephanie Derouen; and a host of Christian friends.  Waiting for her in heaven are her parents and a granddaughter, Jessica Laine Wheat.

A memorial service for Kay will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 2 PM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 AM until the time of service.  Interment will be in McNeil, MS at a later date.
