Cheryl Barry Roux, 61, of Lake Charles, left this world to be with the Lord on Friday, February 23, 2018 in her residence.
Mrs. Roux was born on September 17, 1956 in Lake Charles to Ina and Samuel Armentor. She was a graduate of South Cameron High School in 1974. Mrs. Roux spent many years raising her children and attending Living Word Assembly Church in Jennings, LA. As a member of Living Word Assembly Church she served her Lord in many ways. She served for the senior citizens group, was a church librarian, served as a missionette teacher and director, taught Sunday school, and was active here for more than 20 years. She also worked as a security guard for Vinson Guard Service for many years, and most recently worked for Armstrong McCall, which she loved. Mrs. Roux cherished her beloved grandchildren and loved to bake and cook for her family and friends. She spent a lot of time outdoors and enjoyed fishing, traveling, shopping, and spending time with her sister, aunts, and cousins in their active group she named “Cruzin Southern Chix”. She was most recently an active member of Freedom Life Church in Lake Charles.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of almost 8 years, Roland Roux, Jr.; children, Sheri Barry, Nicole Roux (Tim), Shane Barry, and Caleb Roux (Brittany); stepchildren, Loretta Benevidez and Jennifer Gonzales; seven grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; siblings, Kathy Wright (Curtis), James Armentor (Karen), John “Manny” Armentor (Jeanne), and Peggy Simon (LeRoy); as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Jane Armentor, and Kenneth Armentor; nephews, Joseph “Joey” Broussard, Aaron Armentor, and Shawn Armentor; as well as her parents.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Broussard for his care and compassion during the past 8 years.
Mrs. Roux’s funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Paula Raley will officiate. Burial will be at the Sweet Lake/Grand Lake Cemetery in Sweet lake, LA. Visitation will be on Sunday from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. It will resume on Monday morning at 9:00 AM.
Pallbearers serving for Mrs. Roux will be Mark Pecar, Joe Wright, David Wright, Brock Legros, Derrick Armentor, and Austin Wright.
