Christena Ingalls Hunt

August 23, 1920 — July 20, 2010

Christena Ingalls Hunt, 89, of Lake Charles died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 in a local hospital.


Mrs. Hunt was born and raised in Sabine Pass, TX to John and Alice LaBove. She moved to Lake Charles with her husband 76 years ago. She retired after 30 years of service as a Bus Driver for the Calcasieu Parish School Board and worked many years in the Deli of Mere's Grocery. Mrs. Hunt loved gardening, as up until her last days, she was still tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed cooking for family gatherings of the entire family, holidays, especially Christmas were her favorite. "She always had a gift for everyone, she was such a loving and giving woman". Mrs. Hunt was a former member of Sale Street Baptist Church and attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God. She was a member of VFW Post 2130 Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion.


She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Almira Ramsey and husband Ronald of Ragley, Jane Myers and husband Roy and Judy Ingalls; one son, Ronnie Ingalls and wife Brenda of Lake Charles; daughter- in law, Carolyn Ingalls; all of Lake Charles; 14 grandchildren; 36 great- grandchildren; 6 great- great- grandchildren and 3 sisters, Dorothy Allen of Winnie, TX, Myrtle Carlile and husband Johnnie of Vidor, TX and Vesta Quirk of Orange, TX.


She was preceded in death, by father of children, Orville Ingalls; three sons, Orville Lee Ingalls, Marvin Ingalls and Jerry Wayne Ingalls; one daughter, Velma Poole; great- grandson, Brian Roan; 2 sisters; 1 brother and two latest husbands Donald Moyer and Cecil Hunt.


Her family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to Doctors Craig Broussard, Edward Hebert and Gary Kohler and the nurses and staff for their excellence in care and compassion during this difficult time.


Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Friday July 23, 2010 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Gary Evers will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Thursday will be from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Friday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
