Christina Fuselier

March 7, 1965 — January 4, 2011

Following a courageous battle with breast cancer, Christina Tassin Fuselier, 45, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.


Christina was born and raised in Vinton, and spent most of her adult life in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She moved back to Lake Charles in 2009 to be closer to her family while fighting the cancer that was discovered.


Christina loved life and her family. She had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother and will be remembered by her gentle, kind spirit, and quiet strength.


Preceding her in death are her paternal grandparents, Lima and Theresa Normand Tassin; maternal grandparents, Abey and Addie Richard Breaux; mother, Deanna Breaux Tassin; and stepmother, Judi Natali Tassin. Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her son, Joshua Fuselier and granddaughter, Loriena, of Lake Charles; father, Houston Tassin and his best friend, Charlotte Boudreaux, who cared for Christina as a daughter, Lake Charles; sister, Anna Jagneaux and husband Mike of Ulysses, Kansas; brothers, Joey Tassin and wife Jennifer, Dean Tassin and wife Cara, and David Tassin and wife Cary, all of Lake Charles; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She also leaves many loving and devoted friends, from growing up and to those who she met while spending her life in South Carolina.


Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday January 6, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Home. A Scripture Service with Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Father Alan Trouille officiating. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss.


The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Gaharan and his staff; Mary and the support staff of Odyssey Hospice; and Vivian Simon, whose compassion and care of Christina made these difficult days much more bearable.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
