Christine Cecile Bland

Christine Cecile Bland, 76, of Moss Bluff died at 3:20 AM on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Harbor Hospice.

Mrs. Bland was born on June 5, 1940 in Orange, TX and moved to Moss Bluff in 1968. She had briefly lived in Lake Charles and was a 1958 graduate of LaGrange High School. She was a pianist beginning at the age of 15 having played for several churches and was the pianist for Maranatha Christian Center until June 5, 2016 and was also a piano teacher for a brief moment in her earlier years. Mrs. Bland began her career at Calcasieu Marine Bank downtown as a bookkeeper and then became a legal secretary for Larry Roach, Francis Dressler, and Mike Maneille. In her mid 50’s she furthered her education and attended McNeese State University but finished a few credits short from obtaining a music degree. Mrs. Bland was a devoted Christian and belonged to the First Baptist Church in Moss Bluff.

She enjoyed music, gardening and sewing but she devoted most of her time to her family whom she adored and loved dearly.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 57 years, Bob Bland of Moss Bluff; a daughter, Sherry Dartez (Daniel) of Lake Charles; a son, Marlin Bland (Allison) of Lake Charles; a sister, Merle Lynn Woolley of Houston, TX; a brother, Henry “Hank” Prejean, Jr. (Trudy) of Georgetown, TX; six grandchildren, Justin, Sean, and Brandon Keenan, Sr., Ross Bland, Dale Collins (Amy), and Michelle Dartez; six great grandchildren, Henry and Hudson Collins, Addisyn, Mathieu, Keeley, and Brandon Keenan, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennie Tanoos and Henry Prejean, Sr. and a sister, Frances Young.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff of Harbor Hospice Facility for their sincere care and compassion given during their stay.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 5, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Daniel Ray will officiate. Burial will follow in New Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Visitation will begin on Thursday 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
