Claby "Johnny" Hanks, 73, of Moss Bluff passed away at 1:55 PM on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in a local hospital following an automobile accident. Mr. Hanks was born on October 5, 1941 in Lake Arthur and moved to Lake Charles in 1982. He was a graduate of Marion High School before serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hanks owned and operated Hanks Barber Shop in Lake Charles for 47 years. He was a faithful member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, belonged to the Knights of Columbus, and was also a professor at the Cursillo Center. He enjoyed dancing and had feet like feathers. Mr. Hanks was a devoted husband and father and was a great mentor to his twin sons. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Hanks of Moss Bluff; two sons and their wives, Ronald Lee Hanks and Jill of Moss Bluff and Donald Joseph Hanks and Michelle of Atlanta, GA; a brother and his wife, Mike McVey and Norma of Lake Charles; twelve grandchildren, Charlotte Marie Hanks and fiancé Jake Casey, Torey Lee, Dylan Joseph and Haley Castillo, Dalton Joshua, Chace Lynn, Shay Renee, Dustin James, and Kaitlyn Brooke Hanks, Clintin Joseph and Garrett Joseph Habetz, and Zoe Marie and Zack Joseph Vera; and two great grandchildren, Casen Paul Chaisson and Beatrice Belle Casey. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois and Rev. Tim Goodly will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin in the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a cursillo rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume in the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the start of the service.
