Clara Daigle Ogea

Clara Joyce Ogea, 71, of Lake Charles, died at 8:04 AM, Sunday, July 11, 2010, in a Lake Charles Care Center.

Mrs. Ogea was born and lived all her life in Lake Charles. She graduated from St. Charles Academy and McNeese State University where she received her Bachelor of Science and Master's Plus Thirty in Education. She worked in the Calcasieu Parish School System for thirty years teaching the third through fifth grades at Oak Park and Henry Heights Elementary School. She also was a librarian at Brentwood Elementary School.

Mrs. Ogea was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and a member of the Calcasieu Parish Retired Teacher's Association, She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Calcasieu Parish Teacher's Employees Credit Union for over twenty years.

Her parents, Eddie and Clara Pelafigue Daigle as well as a sister Patricia Ruth Daigle preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, John R. Ogea of Lake Charles: one son, John Richard Ogea, Jr. and his wife Dee of DeQuincy; three daughters, Patricia Ann Ogea of Missouri City, Texas, Sharon Ruth Mendoza and her husband Lupe Mendoza, Jr., of Austin, Texas, and Lucinda Marie Page and her husband Wesley Page, Jr. of Denham Springs, LA.

Mrs. Ogea's greatest joy was her five grandchildren, Colton Darbonne, Justin Mendoza, Victoria Page, Catherine Page, and Kaylee Ogea.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ogea will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 13, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with the Rev. Alan Trouille officiating. Burial will be in Sallier Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home chapel at 6:00 PM Monday evening. Visitation on Tuesday will be from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM.

Donations may be made to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church Building Fund in her memory.
