Clare Rochon Biagas

December 13, 1931 — May 21, 2023

Clare Rochon Biagas was born on December 13, 1931 in Lake Charles, LA to Joseph Uri Rochon and Matilda Wiltz Rochon. She was the first born of two children. She attended and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Lake Charles where she met her husband, Percy Biagas. Clare and Percy were married for over sixty years until his death in August 2012. From this union they had ten children.

Clare was a true pillar of strength; spending her time not only caring for her ten children, but also taking care of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and even children in her neighborhood. Making sure they were all well fed and looking their best. This was her calling that she embraced wholeheartedly, and truly cherished. Children naturally gravitated to her playful personality. There were many summers and holidays unto which her family would spend time together. She would sit on the floor with her grandchildren teaching and enjoying endless games of cards, checkers, Chinese marbles, and various board games. In the midst of all of that, she even managed to find time to master crossword and jigsaw puzzles, which she loved. Clare was a generous, caring, and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was the true authentic definition of a family matriarch.

She is survived by her ten children: Charles Biagas and Margo Biagas of Lake Charles, LA, Marvin Biagas of Houston, TX, Yvonne Hall (Leo) of Naperville, IL, Anthony Biagas of Baton Rouge, LA, Patrick Biagas, MichaelBiagas, Andrew Biagas, Angela Muhammad (Denon) all of Houston, TX, Andrea Biagas (Michael) of Tulsa, OK. Her thirteen grandchildren: Erica Biagas, Marcques Biagas, Lance Biagas, Gilbert Jones (Jordan), Melody Hamilton (Greg), Brittanie Braggs, Alexis Rougeau (Jeremy),Kristen Hall, Briana Biagas, Jordon Biagas, DeAngelanMuhammad, Addison Thomas, and Alaisia Muhammad; fourteen great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two godchildren, Laura Granger and Evette Gradney, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph Uri Rochon and Matilda Wiltz Rochon, her brother, Anthony“T-Boy” (Joyce) Rochon and her husband, Percy G.Biagas.

Clare passed away peacefully at her residence on May 21, 2023. Her life and huge presence will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. Her free-spirited and humble demeanor will be missed by all that were blessed to be in the company of her positive energy that radiated to everyone. When asked for advice, it was always positive and spiritually connected. She was affectionately known to many as a mom who never met a stranger. Amongst her many extraordinary qualities, she carried a candid humor. Clare always maintained her family in peace and prayer while encouraging them to always love one another and keeping God first.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 27, 2023 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery with Deacon Elray Bushnell officiating.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until the start of the service with a rosary beginning at 11:30 AM.
