Claude Norman Morgan, 79, of Lake Charles, LA died at 10:40 PM on Monday, January 10, 2011 in a local care facility.


Mr. Morgan was born May 11, 1931 in Chloe, LA and was a 1949 graduate of Marion High School. He immediately went to work for South Central Bell. He retired as a supervisor from ATT after thirty-five years of service. Mr. Morgan served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles. He was also a lifetime member of the MSU Cowboy Club, where he was named a member of the Hall of Honor and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was an avid McNeese State University fan and supporter. Mr. Morgan also was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish.


Mr. Morgan is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Velma Lee LeJune Morgan; daughters, Teri Peterson and husband Tyler of Westlake, LA and Rita Lejeune and husband Chuck of Lake Charles; brothers, J.D. Morgan of Lake Charles, Gene Morgan and wife Mary of Longville, LA, and Duane Morgan and wife Nikki of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Angela Erion Lee, Scott Peterson, Mark Peterson, Kevin Lejeune, and James Peterson; and two great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, John Littleton and Claudia Janise Morgan; and brother, Reverend Ray Morgan.


His funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. John White will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
