Claude E. "Uncle Buck" Miley, 66, of Lake Charles, LA died at 8:43 PM on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mr. Miley was born January 9, 1946 in Glenmora, LA and served for thirteen years in the U.S. Army, where he served multiple tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the Military as a combat medic, he moved to Savannah, GA, where he worked at Grumman as an Aviation Inspector. Mr. Miley served as a volunteer fireman and EMT in Guyton, GA. He also volunteered with the Lake Charles Red Cross, where he was actively involved with hurricane assessments. Mr. Miley later volunteered with the Toledo Bend Resort, where he lead excursions on the lake, maintained the property, and enjoyed visiting with guests. He was raised of the Methodist faith and was a 32nd Degree Mason in Georgia. He loved hunting and fishing, and will always be remembered as an outdoorsman.
Mr. Miley is survived by his sons, William Burgess Miley of Clemson, SC and Robert Burgess Eiess of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters, Barbara Williams and Norma M. Hebert and husband Jay, all of Lake Charles; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude N. "C.N." and Eleanor Miley; step-brother, Curry Holden; and grandparents, John S. and Lora Miley.
His funeral service will be at 2:30 PM on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
