Claudia Pipkins

Westlake-Claudia Parsons Pipkins 87 of Westlake died on December 10, 2012 at Grand Cove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. Claudia was well known for helping others. She and her husband started the first medical Transportation C C' Medical Transportation in the 5 Parish area. She also ran the Elderly Feeding Program for many years. She was instrumental in starting the Head Start Program in Calcasieu Parish and served on its board for over 20 years. She was a former member of ABWA.

Sis. Pipkins was a lifelong member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she served as former Sunday School secretary, superintendent, teacher, and Youth Director. Before her illness, Sis. Pipkins was an active member of WMU, Deaconess and New Member Orientation Department.

She leaves to mourn three daughters, Curtistene Kirkwood of Westlake, Louisiana, Sherise (Jackie) Fuller of Dallas, Texas and Emily Taylor of Decatur, Alabama; one son, Joey Ashworth of Abilene, Texas; one brother, Thomas Henry Parsons (Jessie Mae) of Sulphur, Louisiana; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Pipkins, parents, George and Florence Parsons, four sisters, four brothers, two daughters and one grandchild.

Funeral Services will be at 1PM Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Good Hope Baptist Church. Rev. Madison Clark Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday 9AM-1PM at the church.
