Clay S. Russell, 42, died unexpectedly October 13, 2020, at The DeSoto Baptist Memorial Hospital, in Southaven, Mississippi, while being evacuated from Hurricanes Laura and Delta. He was born September 6, 1978, in Lafayette, Louisiana, son of Preston Jay Russell and Tracy Driscoll Walton and stepson of Garland E. Walton for the past 32 years.
Clay graduated from A.M. Barbe High School, Class of 1997. Clay worked as a sheet metal fabricator and as a commercial HVAC on site supervisor. In addition to his parents, left to cherish his memory is his son Joseph (Joey) Anthony Russell of Lake Charles, his brothers Shau Russell Driscoll of Ft. Worth, Texas, Travis Paul Russell, Joseph (Joe) Kyle Russell and Patrick Jay Russell all from the Lafayette area. Clay also leaves his Aunt Edan Driscoll of Lake Cormorant, Mississippi, and Aunt Beverly and Uncle Grant Granger of Edgerly, Louisiana along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his friends, his Melkonian cousins from the Boston area and his O’Driscoll / Driscoll cousins worldwide.
He was an avid LSU sports fan, enjoyed the entertainment of movies, professional football, basketball, baseball, golf and hockey. Clay loved to draw in his pastime, dragons and other medieval creations.
Clay’s Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff, November 1, 2020. Visitation will start at 12:00 noon (daylight savings time) with the service around 1:30pm. His cremation was entrusted to Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, Mississippi.
