Clemile "Peanut" Richard, Jr.

Clemile Joseph “Peanut” Richard, Jr., 73, of Lake Charles, LA died at 3:15 AM on Saturday, November 20, 2021 in a local care facility.

Mr. Richard was born July 11, 1948 in Jennings LA and attended Marion High School, where he played basketball, ran track and was on the diving team.  He served his country in the U.S. Army, where he was a mechanic.  He worked over twenty years for Teledyne Movible Offshore as a chief engineer.  Following his retirement from offshore, he worked for the City of Lake Charles for fifteen years, as the head of maintenance for Mallard Cove Golf Course.  Peanut was a member of South City Christian Church, where he enjoyed helping with the fall festivals.  He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching football, especially the New Orleans Saints, and loved swimming with his family.  His true passion in life was always for his family, and he loved going on family vacations.  He had a compassionate and caring heart and often helped those in need.  He instilled his strong work ethics and sense of responsibility into his family.

Mr. Richard is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Brenda Fontenot Richard; children, Eric Scott Richard of Sulphur, Tracey Lynn Collins and husband Shane of Moss Bluff; and Byron Keith Richard and wife Ashley of Moss Bluff; brother, David Paul Richard and wife Gwen of Ville Platte, LA; grandchildren, Amberly Duncan and husband Nik, Megan Hidalgo, Adam Richard, Tyler Richard, Bailey Richard, Chandler Collins, Devin Collins, and Elizabeth Richard; and great-grandchildren, Carrington Gray, Michael and Asher, and Keegan and Riley Collins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie Louviere Richard and Clemile Richard, Sr.; sister, Mary Bellard; and brother, Arnold Richard.

His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at University Baptist Church, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Reverend Dave Lang will officiate.  Burial will follow in Black Bayou Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the start of the service.
