Cleophas "Clifford" J. Doucet

April 21, 1941 — June 8, 2016

Cleophas “Clifford” Doucet, 75, of Lake Charles died at 8:40 AM on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in a local hospital.

Mr. Doucet was born three months early on April 21, 1941 in Church Point, LA weighing only two pounds during an age without neonatal care.  He thrived and became a healthy man, although later in life developed heart disease.

Mr. Doucet was baptized on November 12, 1964 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized in the cold lake at 210 park.  He attended the Prien Lake Congregation ever since.  From that day forward, he was a faithful and loyal servant of Jehovah God.  Because of his lack of education, Clifford was very uneasy with carrying a book bag but his zealous spirit was clearly evident in his ability to speak to anyone in natural surroundings.  He often witnessed to his neighbors, to his doctors and nurses through the years, and even to the people he met fishing.  Even on his deathbed he expressed his hope of living again, awaiting a resurrection demonstrating his strong faith in his hope.

He was married to Glenda Sue Dyke on November 14, 1964 in Lake Charles.  He was a loving husband who gave his all to his wife and children.  Although life had its ups and downs his utmost concern was his family and his loyalty to his Heavenly Father Jehovah.  He had a great sense of humor and loved teasing his kids and grandchildren.  Dad was not one to say “I love you” often but the way he took care of and cherished his family, his love was clearly evident in every way.  He had hands of a hard, strong worker and yet with those same hands was humble, soft hearted, and gentle.

He was a gardener, fisherman, boat mechanic, worked with IMTC as a scaffold builder, carpenter, and shrimper.  He loved to plant flowers and listen to music.  He was a jack of all trades and expert of many.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Glenda Sue Dyke Doucet; five children, Michael Ray Doucet of Lake Charles; Laura Spillane (Scott) of Sulphur, Sarah Pike (Paul) of Lake Charles; Barry Doucet (Mandy) of Jennings, and Tanya McInnis of Westlake; two siblings, Jimmie Doucet (Roxie) of Sulphur and Gaynal Hannon (Ikey) of Vidor, TX; five brothers-in-law, Phil Boucher of Lake Charles, Harold Dyke (Annette) of Lake Charles, Howard Dyke (Roberta) of Lake Arthur, James Dyke (Paula), and Curtis Dyke of Welsh; and six grandchildren, David and Destini Doucet, Nicholas, Nathan, and Christopher Kelley, and Joshua McInnis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Normie and Harris Doucet and a sister, Barbara Boucher.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2551 Alma Dr., Lake Charles, LA 70607.  Elder Aaron Guillory will officiate.  Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.  A gathering of family and friends will begin at the hall on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the start of the service.

We would also like to acknowledge a special thank you for Dr. Michael Turner (his cardiologist), his nurse’s practitioner, Anne Landry and the nurses on the fourth floor of Christus St. Patrick’s Hospital.  Their care and concern were greatly appreciated.  Because of their compassionate care, warm friendships were made.
