Clifford George “C.G.” Babin, Jr., 75, of Lake Charles, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 in a local care facility.
Mr. Babin was born in Lake Charles on May 11, 1942 to Esther and Clifford Babin, Sr. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School in 1961 and attended Louisiana State University as well as McNeese State University. Mr. Babin worked for the Houston Chronicle for 9 years as a driver and safety trainer. He was also a contract cross country truck driver for many years. Mr. Babin loved to make everyone laugh; he had a great sense of humor and was very well loved by everyone who met him. He loved to talk to new people and he never met a stranger. Mr. Babin enjoyed watching any LSU sport, loved watching NASCAR, and liked to watch old western movies. He spent his spare time cooking for his friends and family and spending time with his loved ones.
He is survived by his loving fiancé of 10 years, Judy Nugent; daughters, Allyson Babin and Debbie Gutierrez and husband Richard; sister, Joyce Guillory; and grandchildren, Presley Gutierrez, Griffin Gutierrez, Bradie Babin, and Landry Gutierrez.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, James Babin and Robert Babin; as well as his parents.
Mr. Babin’s funeral service will be at 10:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday, March 2, 2018. Monsignor Harry Greig will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland-Orange Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday morning at 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
