Clinton Lee Shoumaker, 58, of Delta, Ohio, formerly of Westlake, La., died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Clint was born December 6, 1955 in Springhill, La. to Roland and Alma Wilson Shoumaker. He was a native of Plain Dealing, La. and lived in Southwest Louisiana for over 25 years before moving to the Midwest. He worked as a power plant operator for several local chemical plants and was working for NAES at the Fremont Energy Center in Fremont, Ohio at the time of his death. "Pa Paw" treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren and was very proud of their achievements. He was an amazing cook, specializing in Cajun cuisine and, at one time, operated a Cajun restaurant in Oklahoma. Clint also enjoyed traveling the United States; the times he spent with his partner DeeAnn on the beaches of the Florida Gulf Coast were his favorite. He was also an enthusiastic sports fan and volunteered his time as a coach in the Westlake Recreation District for many years. His favorite teams were the LSU Tigers and the Oklahoma Sooners. He is survived by a son, Brandon Shoumaker and his wife Erin; a daughter, Ashley Shoumaker Goodloe and her husband Jean Paul, all of Lake Charles, La.; his mother, Alma Shoumaker of Bossier City, La.; a brother, Ronnie Shoumaker and wife Loretta of Benton, La.; four grandchildren, Brayden Goodloe, Connor Goodloe, Evan Goodloe, and Nora Shoumaker, all of Lake Charles; his special companion, DeeAnn Simmons of Delta, Ohio and the mother of his children, Pamela Evans Manuel of Lake Charles. Clint is also survived by Kirk Simmons and his fiancée Sarah Serres and son Jacen, all of Wauseon, Ohio and Tari Pennington and her husband Chad and three daughters Alicen, Emileigh, and Elizabeth, all of Cameron, N.C.; Clint loved them like his own children and grandchildren. Clint is also survived by a multitude of family and friends. Clint is preceded in death by his father, Roland Shoumaker. The family would especially like to thank the staff of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the University of Toledo Medical Center for their care and warmth during Clint's stay. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 01, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Steve Shirley will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Monday will be from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jean Paul Goodloe, James Evans Jr., Matthew Moore, and Joe Tessier.
