Clodile Romero, Jr.

October 2, 1934 — February 28, 2023

Clodile Romero, Jr. was born October 2, 1934 in Lake Charles and was a life long resident of Southwest Louisiana.

From a young age, he knew the value and reward hard work could bring. He started as a door to door vacuum salesman, but knew to support his future family he would need a career. With the support of his wife, Carol, he inquired about employment with Coburn Supply Company and accepted a job as a delivery driver. Although Coburn Supply Company was his employer, they were very much a part of his extended family. For over fifty-seven years he was an active employee within the company, serving many positions and working up through the ranks, most recently serving on the board of directors until his passing. Every Friday, he and the Coburn Krewe would go to Southern Spice to see their favorite waitress, Crystal and to enjoy his favorite meal; fried fish and onion rings.

He was a member of St. Margaret Church, and he believed; to live as Christ, to die is gain. He was diligent in his faith, praying every night, and living by examples in the virtues Jesus Christ taught us. He was generous, kind, and selfless when it came to the need of others. It was this that earned him Philanthropist of the Year in 2019, an award given to him by Julio Galan.

As dedicated as he was to his work, he was equally dedicated to family and fun; he enjoyed dancing and traveling. He often accompanied his son, Chip on cruise ships, together visiting over fifty countries: including Antarctica and Australia, where at seventy-eight years old he climbed the Sydney Bridge. He also treasured several trips in honor of his Catholic faith one to Rome, where he visited the Vatican City to see La Madonna Della Peita in St. Peters Basilica and to Milan to see The Last Supper Mural in Santa Maria della Grazie Convent. Even in his more recent years, he and his friend, Martha enjoyed many trips together, their most recent one being to New York City to watch the Macy’s Day Parade.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his wife of thirty-nine years; Carol Romero; parents, Lorraine and Clodile Romero, Sr.; a brother, Jerry Romero; and two sisters, Jane Brown, and Joyce Johnson.

Those left to cherish his memory; a son, Clodile “Chip” Romero, III; sister, Mary VanWinkle; special friend, Martha Core; close friend, Brenda Pitre, his “Commando”; and the Coburns.
