Cody Reeves

August 16, 1952 — August 29, 2021

Cody Reeves, age 69, of Moss Bluff, La. passed away from a heart attack on August 29, 2021 at St. Patrick's Hospital. Cody was a life long resident of Moss Bluff where he graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1970. Cody was never one to sit still, building many homes in the Moss Bluff area in addition to working at Dow Chemical. Cody had 2 life long passions—his motorcycles and his family. Cody was a proud life time member of the Harley Owners Group and recently completed his bucket list of riding his motorcycle to all the L48 states, plus Alaska. He delighted in taking his grandchildren on the weekend motorcycle rides with the Harley group while teaching them the safety precautions and basics of riding. His family was his greatest passion. He and Brenda, his wife of 45 years, raised 3 children. Recently Cody was taking a granddaughter to high school and as he backed out the driveway, he and Brenda were waving back and forth. Rolling up the window, he told his granddaughter, “God, I love that woman. I'd do anything for her and wouldn't trade her for the world.” Cody was a loving father and always there for his kids whether it be attending their sports events, hooking up a generator post hurricane, building a house, mowing their lawns, washing their cars. He was also the grandfather to 10; he enjoyed spending his time attending every birthday party, sports event, football game, and band concert, providing rides and money for concessions as needed, and always providing expert advice on vehicles and homes. He told the grandkids that whoever needed him should call him and he would be there, and he always was!

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, the former Brenda Carpenter, and his 3 children—Matt Reeves and wife Beth of Moss Bluff, Paige Reeves Nelson and husband Michael of Cypress, Texas, and Erin Telise Reeves of Moss Bluff. He also leaves behind 10 dearly loved grandchildren—Taytem, Riley, Jacob, and Ayden Reeves; Bailey and Ruby Nelson; Shelby, Samantha, and Ty Winters and Sophia Grossi. He has 2 surviving siblings, Johnny Reeves and Bonnie Gilley, both of Moss Bluff, as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cody was predeceased by his parents, John L. Reeves and Pat Reeves, and his brother Norman Reeves.

In accordance with Cody's wishes, there will be graveside services at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles on Wednesday, September 1, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Hobo Hotel for Cats.  He always supported his family in their interests and endeavors.
