Connie Lynn Collins

October 24, 1948 — August 28, 2021

Connie Lynn Collins was one of three children born to Thomas M. and Nell J. O’Conner. She was born October 24, 1948 in Lake Charles, LA.

She attended LaGrange High School, graduating Class of 1966. Her entire childhood and teenage years were spent in close proximity to the man she would spend her life with, however it was not till she began attending McNeese she would meet Roger Collins. They exchanged vows on August 17, 1968 and made Lake Charles their home.

Together they welcomed two children; a daughter, Shannon and a son, John. She worked at Fred Patin’s law office as a secretary, stepping down to become a full time mother to her children. She was very involved in their lives, she served as a substitute teacher and was a member of the PTA. She kept the kids busy with outdoor adventures, saving a list of movies to be watched for rainy days.

She was an avid outdoors-lady, being among the beauty of nature was a calling. So much she gave up the city life for the perfect piece of God’s land at Bundick Lake. Together they carved out their peaceful oasis, where she often enjoyed evenings on the porch; ensuring the hummingbirds always had a refill, or watching the squirrels hop tree to tree, or other various wildlife passing through by land or water.

She also enjoyed traveling and hiking; a favorite place was being among the beautiful mountains found in Smokey Mountain National Park in Tennessee. Often they would frequent the trails or parks to be in awe of God’s natural creations. A trail she was especially proud to have done was the five-and-a-half-mile trek up Mountain LeConte to the lodge to enjoy a picnic before descending to their RV.

When her children started middle school, she returned to the workforce, taking a position at Robert Jacques Law Firm, retiring as their office manager.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents on August 28, 2021, Nell Jane and Thomas Marshall O’Conner.

Those left to cherish her memory; her husband of fifty-three years, Roger Collins; her beloved children, Shannon D. Credeur and husband Christopher and John Marshall Collins; two sisters, Diana Burnett and Teri Jo Falcon.

Cremation entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. The family will welcome friends on September 2, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff beginning at 10am until time of service. A celebration of her life will begin at 12pm, officiated by Tim Bergin, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens.

The family invites you to make a donation in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
