Obituary for Constance Ann Shuff
Connie Ann Shuff, born on October 7, 1953, in Jennings, Louisiana, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, on the first day of Spring. She would not want you to be sad, but to embrace the beauty and rebirth that follows.
Raised in Lacassine, Connie graduated from Lacassine High School, and throughout her life, spring remained her favorite season-reflecting her love of life and her deep connection to nature. Gardening was one of her greatest joys, and she often found peace and solace in her yard. Connie was a faithful member of St. Luke Simpson Methodist Church.
On December 28, 1978, Connie met the love of her life, Harley and they married on February 9, 1980. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
Connie worked as an office manager Dr. Randy Hudson DDS & Dr. Carl Churchman DDS. She was known for her dedication and kindness, but more important to her was being a great homemaker and mom. Connie was known for her deep love of family and friends. Her children were the center of her world, and she took pride in celebrating each of their achievements. She would do anything for them, and her home was always open to their friends, many of whom affectionately called her "Momma Connie." Connie also enjoyed hosting gatherings and parties to celebrate the people she loved, creating lasting memories and moments of joy.
Her hobbies in addition to gardening, were reading, shopping, and indulging in her beloved McDonald's Coke. She had a radiant personality that lit up any room, and her infectious smile and positive attitude were contagious to everyone around her.
Connie's strength was evident in every aspect of her life, especially after a devastating automobile accident on June 27, 2013 that left her partially paralyzed. Despite the challenges, she remained strong, graceful, and positive, teaching her children and those who knew her that anything is possible with faith, love, and determination. She never said goodbye-only "see you later," always followed by her heartfelt words, "I love you."
She also had a deep love for her fur babies, who brought her much joy throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; John Carroll Bourgeois, Sr. and Maggie Lee Hebert; a brother, Kenneth W. Bourgeois; a sister, Donna G. O'Brien; and her cherished Maw Maw Rose.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Harley G. Shuff; children, Stacie (John) Shuff, Joshua J. (Erica) LeFranc, Apryle (Danny) Johnson, Kimberley (Natalie) Shuff; grandchildren, Saije, Zoe, Lanie, Joshua Jr., Noah, Isabella, Deven, and Emmalee; great grandchildren, Ahna, Indie, Venice; two brothers, Johnny Bourgeois and Ronald Bourgeois.
Heartfelt thank you goes out to her longtime caregivers, Desirae Harris and Shannen Cassell of St. Joseph Hospice, as well as Karen Gothreaux and Pam Logan for their selfless and devoted care of Connie as well as her family.
