Cora Smith Mouton, 78, of Sulphur, LA, died at 4:28 AM on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at a local hospital.
Mrs. Mouton was born August 5, 1938 in Branch, LA, was raised in the Crowley area and has lived most of her life in the Lake Charles / Sulphur area. She was a graduate of Crowley High School and retired from Bell South after over thirty years of service. Mrs. Mouton was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She will always be remembered for her heart of gold and the love she shared with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Mouton is survived by her son, Todd Rippeon and wife Jacinta of Sulphur; grandchildren, Madisyn and Miranda Rippeon; sister, Lilly “Missy” Frederick of Jennings, LA; special niece, Georgie Welch of Sulphur, LA; and numerous other step-children, step-grandchildren, family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Rippeon and Curtis Mouton; son, Lonnie Keith Moore; siblings, Dora Middlebrooks, Mary Griffin, William, Horace, George, Jr. and Richard Smith; and seven half-siblings.
Her memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Michael Linton will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
