Cory Kevin "Hobo" Kinder, 57, of Lake Charles, LA died at 11:30 PM on Friday, February 14, 2014 in a local hospital. Hobo was born October 14, 1956 in Salt Lake City, UT, where he graduated high school. He worked for Otis and then Halliburton for over twenty years, where he held a number of positions throughout the years, including boat captain, shop foreman, operator, and supervised the implosion of wells. He was a past member of the Sons of the American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman and motorcycle enthusiast who loved to fish, shoot guns and travel. Mr. Kinder was always willing to help others, was very knowledgeable in many different areas, and could fix anything. He loved to play practical jokes, enjoyed camping and spending time in the mountains tobogganing and snow tubing, but his true passions in life were for animals and for his children. "And it's going to cost you a fortune, so don't put that much into it," was a motto that he enjoyed. Mr. Kinder is survived by his sons, Cory Robert Kinder and wife Tamra and Kevin Thomas Kinder, all of Lake Charles; mother, Charolletta Kinder of Salt Lake City, UT; sister, Shana Franklin of Salt Lake City, UT; brother, Cary Kinder of Orange, TX; mother of his children, Debbie Esthay of lake Charles; God-child, Amanda Huval; and nieces and nephews, Megan Franklin, Amanda Tucker, and Andy Franklin. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Kinder. His memorial service will be held at a later date and his final resting place will be in Salt Lake City.
