Cory Scott Snead

January 5, 1993 — November 4, 2024

Cory Scott Snead, a man who wore many hats, unexpectedly passed away on November 4, 2024. He was 31 years old and a resident of French Settlement, Louisiana.

Cory was born on January 5, 1993 in Lake Charles to wonderful parents, Charlie and Cindy. He graduated from St. Louis Catholic High School in 2011. He then moved to Ruston, to pursue a Chemical Engineering degree at Louisiana Tech University. It was at Tech where Cory met Candace while tailgating in Hideaway Park, beginning a friendship that would become a great love. He was a loyal brother of Pi Kappa Phi – Theta Phi, where he served on the Executive Council as both Historian and Treasurer.

Upon graduation in 2015, he began working in West Monroe at Graphic Packaging International as a Process Control Engineer. In 2017 he moved to St. Amant and began working in St. Gabriel at Orbia Fluor & Energy Materials as the Process Control and SIS Engineer. Cory took great pride in being an engineer, he truly loved his career and considered his colleagues dear friends.

While Cory’s time was tragically cut short, he lived an incredibly rich, beautiful, and meaningful life. He truly embraced Louisiana’s culture. He was a classically trained pianist and a lover of all music, especially blues, jazz, and funk. Every spring he attended the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival complete with a festive camp shirt and a wide brimmed Panama hat. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of DisOrder – Parrot Head Club of Baton Rouge, which was very dear to him, as Cory and Candace shared many beautiful memories surrounding Jimmy Buffett. He had a deep appreciation for art, which began in childhood, as his mother is a talented artist who he always admired.

Cory was an incredibly talented cook and had a love for feeding friends and family. His gumbo, crawfish, and red beans were unmatched and will always be remembered by anyone who had them. He enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, and any job that required a tractor. He was truly a Jack of all trades. His father helped instill a lifelong love of fishing and duck hunting. The countless hunting and fishing trips with his dad, were some of Cory’s most treasured memories. Cory felt most at home when he was on the waterways of Louisiana, which led him to buy and renovate a beautiful home on the peaceful Amite River.

Cory had a great love for Mardi Gras. He was an active member of the Spanish Town Mardi Gras family. His creativity and craftsmanship led to him receiving several Spanish Town awards, including the most coveted “Worst Float Award” in 2022. He was also a proud supporter of the Spanish Town Ladies Auxiliary where he gladly assisted in any way he could. He was a member of P.I.N.K. as well as a proud member of Krewe of The Collective.

Cory’s cheerful presence and kind heart could be felt by all around him. He was the first one to lend a hand and offer help, and the last to leave. He was always optimistic, seeing the sunshine through the storm. His smile was felt as much as it was seen. He was loved deeply by everyone who knew him.

Cory is preceded in death by his grandparents Dr. Leslie and Ann Warshaw, Charles Snead III, Aunt and Godmother Debbie Warshaw, and surrogate grandmother Margaret England. He is survived by his wife Candace Baham and their three dogs Sugar, Henry, and Mac, his loving parents Charles Scott IV and Cynthia Warshaw Snead, Uncle and Godfather Jamie Warshaw and Cindy Nassar, Uncle Dr. Chip and Kara Warshaw, and Aunt Susan McGuinness, along with numerous close cousins and their families.
