William "Craig" Cooley, 67, of Longville, LA died at 2:05 AM on Monday, April 28, 2014 in a local care facility. Mr. Cooley was born June 27, 1946 in DeQuincy, LA, lived in Lake Charles, LA and followed the construction industry to New Iberia, LA. He later moved to Galveston, TX and settled in Longville, LA, where he has resided for the past 19 years. He was a 1965 graduate of LaGrange High school and worked many years as a manager for Phillip's Cash and Carry. Mr. Cooley was also an owner / operator of Cooley's Lumber Yard with his family and was a self employed General Contractor. He worked for Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX. Mr. Cooley was a member of the Catholic faith. He loved hunting, traveling, gardening, and yard work. He also enjoyed drafting and architecture during his down time. He will always be remembered as a determined individual who lived his life with a positive outlook. He never met a stranger and will be missed dearly. Mr. Cooley is survived by his daughters, Michele Cart and husband Kevin, Christy Graham and husband Justin, all of Lake Charles, Kristi Babineaux and husband Corey of New Iberia, LA and Tiffany Douet and husband Dax of Lafayette, LA; brother, Russell Cooley and fiancée Cynthia House of Lake Charles; step-mother, Gladys Cooley of Longville, LA; grandchildren, Kacie Brouillette and husband Cale, Zachary and Canon Cart, Bryce, Brock, and Jared Ney, Brady Graham, Shelbi Babineaux, and Abigail and Anna-Grace Douet; and two great-grandchildren, Mia and Ellie Brouillette. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.C. and Audrey Cooley; and a beloved niece, Tracy Cooley. His memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Chris Fusilier will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be on Friday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service with a rosary at 2:00 PM. The family would like to express a special word of thanks to Dr. Ron Lewis and the staff of Extended Care of Southwest Louisiana for the care and compassion given.
