Craig Hampton Dupont

Craig Hampton Dupont, 53, of Lake Charles died Saturday, June 16, 2018 in Lake Charles.

Mr. Dupont was born in Creole, LA, raised in Cameron Parish and has lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He owned and successfully operated Dupont Sewer and Consulting for twenty-two years. During his younger years, Mr. Dupont enjoyed riding horseback, working cattle, and playing baseball and football. He was always an avid outdoorsman; loved hunting and spending time at the camp in Cameron. Mr. Dupont’s passion was boating. He was a member of the Calcasieu Boat Club and Buccaneers of Lake Charles for which he reigned as 2016 Jean Lafitte. He will be most remembered as the “life of the party”; for working hard and playing hard and for his work ethic.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three children, Hailey Goodwin Miller (Aaron) of Sumptor, SC, Shelby Dupont and Blake Hampton Dupont, both of Lake Charles; mother, Earline Dupont Mudd (Alvin) of Cameron; brothers, David Wayne Dupont (Cassie) of Lake Charles, Kevin Mudd (Renee), Michael Mudd (Allison) and Greg Mudd (Doris), all of Bell City; nephew, Jaret Dupont of Lake Charles; niece, Jordan Robertson (Greg) of St. Francisville; cousin-“brother”, Jim Paul Dupont (Juanita) of Ragley and their daughter, Rebecca Aucoin (Cade) and their son, Heath Nunez (Jenny), both of Grand Lake; extended family; cousins and many friends. He also leaves his long-term partner, Sandy Laurel of Lake Charles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wade Hampton Dupont; paternal grandparents, Collise and Eula Dupont; maternal grandparents, Laudise and Laura Richard and two uncles, Darrell and Dan Dupont.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 PM Monday, June 18, 2018 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Creole, LA. Father Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Marsh Cemetery in Little Chenier. Visitation Sunday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary service at 6:30 PM. Visitation Monday will be from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the funeral home.

Pallbearers for the service will be David Dupont, Randy Cook, Stevie Trosclair, Joe Dupont, Jared Dupont, Bryan Davis, Mike Johnson and Joey Trosclair. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Poche-Pauley, Scott Henry, Rusty Welch and Terry Ewing.
