Creswell Rodgers Johnson

Creswell Rodger Johnson, 73, of Grant died at 5:00 AM Monday, October 24, at his residence.


Mr. Johnson was born in Grant and attended Fairview School. He was a master automobile mechanic and worked at George Lair's Garage in Elizabeth as a shop foreman before his retirement.


He was an avid gardener and woodworker. Mr. Johnson was a member of Palestine Baptist Church.


He is survived by his wife June Taylor Johnson of Grant; one daughter, Roxann Johnson Baumgarten and her husband Tommy of Moss Bluff and one son, Rodger Dewayne Johnson of Grant. He is also survived by six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.


His parents, Oswald and Verna Stracener Johnson as well as a daughter, Denise Johnson preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.


Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at Palestine Baptist Church in Grant. The Revs. Hardy Estes and Dore Langley will officiate. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery in Grant under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be at the church in Grant from 3:00 PM until 10:oo PM on Tuesday and also at the church on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.


Pallbearers will be Andy, Grant, Ryan, and Antony Johnson as well as Lawrence Sonnier and Mitchell Robertson.
