Our Lord has called Curdey Joseph Cormier, 87, this 4th day of March, 2015. He was born to Eddie J. "Haub" Cormier and Octavie Robin on November 14, 1927. Curdey worked in the farming fields and sugar cane hauling as well as share-cropping. He married Hilda T. Cahanin on December 4, 1948 in Mire, LA. They resided in what was known as Bosco, till he took a job at Sulphur High School and moved his family in 1956. Curdey worked there, through many changes and several principals; until retirement in 1989. Affectionately known as "Cody" or "Mr. Cormier" by all who knew him, he was devoted to his work and enjoyed his free time being with family and fishing. Left to cherish his memory are one daughter, Linda Marie Butler and husband Stephen; one son, Edward Marshall and wife Cynthia Weekly; 6 grandchildren, Kevin Williams, Kristi Vincent (David), Heather Williams, Brandi Browning (Kevin), Amanda Thacker (Darrell), and Dawn Leger (James). He leaves 16 great-grandchildren, Alicia, Austin, Adam, Dylan, Danielle, Hannah, Ethan, Annalyse, Faith Breaux (Brandon), Jasmun, Carmen, Sharee, Keith, Tyler, Cade and Cole; 8 great-great grandkids, Kobyn, Trayton, Madison, Aaron, Ma'Liah, Braiydon, Deliah, Piper. He also leaves 2 sisters, Elbie Begnaud and husband Voorhies and Mary Louise Winn and husband William "Red"; 2 brothers, Camille and Eli; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, Emelie, Alice, Edith Lantier (Milton) and Aline Gaspard (Fraine); 4 brothers, Emile (Loreta Stelly), Arthur (Jessie Mae Cahanin), Hilton (Barbara Breaux), and Claude (Hazel Jane Foreman). Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 1 P.M. at Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire, LA. Burial will be in the church cemetery following the service under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 5-9 P.M. with a rosary at 6 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 11 A.m. at the church hall in Mire, LA until time of the service.
