Curley John LaFleur, 93, of Lake Charles died at 12:41 PM on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 in a local hospital. Mr. LaFleur was born on December 5, 1920 in Evangeline Parish and moved to Lake Charles with his wife in the early 1950's. He served in the US Army and Merchant Marines during World War II. Mr. LaFleur was retired from the Roofer's Local #76. He was a past member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and was currently a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener and enjoyed spending time at his camp in Indian Village. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 67 years, Bernice Manuel LaFleur of Lake Charles; a daughter, Sheryl Farmer and husband David of Moss Bluff; a son, David LaFleur and wife Becky of Big Lake; five grandchildren, Shelley LeBlanc and husband Roger, Stephanie Fusilier and husband Michael, David Ryan LaFleur, Matthew LaFleur, and Sherri Farmer; and five great grandchildren, Tyler, Emily, Hunter, Grace, and Drew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Ozema and Helen O'Conner LaFleur; three brothers; and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 18, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Glenn Viau will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
