Curley Paul Rogers

Curley Paul Rogers, 83, of Lake Charles passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 in a local healthcare facility.


Mr. Rogers was born in Eunice, LA, raised in Sweetlake and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He worked his younger years for Sweetlake Land Oil and went on to serve the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Rogers worked twenty years as a Lineman for Gulf States Utilities worked for the IBEW Local #861 and served as Deputy under Henry A. Ham Reid Administration. During his younger years, he enjoyed duck and goose hunting on his family ranch in Johnson Bayou. As a lifelong Cattleman, the family ranch is also where he leaves his legacy, a family Cattle Ranch. During his later years, Mr. Rogers simply enjoyed drinking a cup of coffee or a glass of tea with extended family at PG'S Diner.


He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of sixty-one years, Frances Dobbertine Rogers of Lake Charles; four sons, Donald P. Rogers and wife Rayna of Lake Charles, C.J. Rogers and wife Mickey of Austin, TX, Robert J. Rogers and wife Peggy of Lake Charles and Michael L. Rogers and wife Chantell, of Lake Charles; eight grandchildren, four brothers and one sister.


He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Justin Robert Rogers and Tyler Carrol Rogers; his parents; three brothers and two sisters.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 03, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Mike Trammel will officiate. Interment will follow in New Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Wednesday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
