Curtis Cllovis Mathieu, Sr.

February 19, 1929 — March 17, 2011

Curtis James "Cllovis" Mathieu, Sr., 82, of Lake Charles died Thursday, March 17, 2011 in a local hospital.


Mr. Mathieu was born in LeRoy, LA, raised and educated in the LeRoy and Crowley area and has lived over fifty years in Lake Charles. He served as a Para Trooper in the United States Army.


Having worked most of his life in the Oil Field Industry, Mr. Mathieu retired after thirty-two years as a Cementer at Halliburton. He enjoyed fishing, camping, visiting their camp in Holly Beach and especially camping at Branson, MO and Fair Field, TX. He also enjoyed working with his side band radio and computer.


He was member of St. Theodore Catholic Church where he was a 3rd and 4th degree Knight of Columbus and formerly a Eucharistic Minister.


Mr. Mathieu will be most remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and a good provider.


He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of fifty-two years, Dot Mathieu of Gillis; three sons, Kieth Mathieu and wife Patty, Mark Mathieu and wife Linda and Todd Mathieu and wife Lisa, all of Lake Charles; two daughters, Betty Alston and husband Jerry of Amarillo, TX and Denise Sonnier and husband David of Gillis; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, B.J. Mathieu and wife Mary of Irving, TX; two sisters, Audrey Hooks of Charlotte, NC and Barbara Layne and husband Jim of Baton Rouge and his precious Dachshund, Maggie.


He was preceded in death by one son, Curtis James Mathieu, Jr.; one great-grandson, Bryant Jon Vidrine and one brother, N.J. Mathieu.


Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Friday will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Visitation Saturday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
