Curtis LeDay, 81, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away at 6:39 AM on Monday, June 27, 2022 in a local hospital.

Mr. LeDay was born January 29, 1941 in Mallet, LA and was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, where he attended Washington High School.  He worked in construction for Labor Local #207 and later retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board, where he was in maintenance at a local elementary school.  Mr. LeDay was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.  During his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball with his league.  He also loved watching sports, spending time outdoors, golfing and fishing and especially loved traveling to visit his family and grandchildren.  His big personality will forever be missed.

Mr. LeDay is survived by his daughters, Edie Suzette LeDay of Lewis Center, OH, Ramona Gail Anthony of Westerville, OH and DaNita Kaye Batiste (Darryl) of Pflugerville, TX; sister, Lenora Gobert (Johnny) of Orlando, FL; brothers, Alfred LeDay (Linda) of Austin, TX and Gerald LeDay (Gail) of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Gaven Smith (Brooke), Theron Smith (Leslie), Darrian Batiste, Spencer Anthony, Ceara Anthony, and Darvin Batiste; and great-grandchildren, Princess, Omri, Cooley, Giselle, Leanna, and Rainbow.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, Elaine Hollier LeDay; parents, Claiborne and Elizabeth Simien LeDay; siblings, Earline Edwards, Russell LeDay, Ernest LeDay, Rodney LeDay, Edmond LeDay, Connie LeDay and Janice Davis; and a great-grandbaby, Zhyonn Smith.

His funeral mass will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.  Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until the start of the service, with a rosary at 11:00 AM.

The family would like to express a special word of thanks to the staff and surgeons at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, especially the 3rd floor ICU for the excellent care given.
