Curtis Wayne Hoffpauir, 88, died Thursday evening, April 14, 2011, in Jennings, with his loving family at his side.
Born and raised in Crowley, Mr. Hoffpauir attended Crowley schools and then served his country in the U. S. Air Force for four years during World War II, moving to Lake Charles in 1954. He was President and CEO of Layne Louisiana, Inc., Layne Construction Company, Water Resources, Inc., and Cameron Enterprises, Inc. He was Vice President and General Manager of Layne Singer for several years.
Mr. Hoffpauir was gifted with the opportunities to pursue his passions, hunting and fishing, having owned and operated for thirty years "Canard, Inc. Hunting and Fishing Lodge," located east southeast of Lake Misere and for twenty-five years Little Burn Hunting and Fishing Lodge, located in the Gibbstown Bridge area (now known as Cameron Prairie Wildlife Refuge), where sports from all over the country made many great hunts and even more great memories. He was an awesome story-teller and entertainer for his guests and family.
His greatest joy was spending time with the love of his life, Martha Elizabeth Morgan Hoffpauir, and their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He came to know the Lord in a very personal way in the sunset of his life and freely shared that relationship with his family and others.
He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Duane Logan and husband Roger of Moss Bluff; one son, Earl Jackson Hoffpauir of Lake Charles; two granddaughters, Michelle Keller and husband Eric of Destrehan and Christel Guins and husband Doug of Moss Bluff; two grandsons, Douglas Logan of Moss Bluff and Garrett Cy Hoffpauir and wife Kourtney of Iowa; six great grandchildren, Courtney Logan, Annabelle Guins, and Rhys, Evan and Lianne Keller and Kourtlyn Alyse Hoffpauir.
Mr. Hoffpauir was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Martha Morgan Hoffpauir; one son, Donald Hoffpauir; and one grandson, Colter Drake Hoffpauir.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2011, in Ebenezer Cemetery in Crowley, Louisiana, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Pastor Paul Cavenah will officiate.
The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the gentle, kind and compassionate care given their beloved father to the staff of the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home and the doctors and staff of Odyssey Hospice.
