Cynthia Ann Miller Abrahams

The moment she left this world, she was greeted by her birth mother, Leslie Ann (Roberts) Miller, her brother, Paul, her son Justin Paul and of course her Savior, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her father, William Hubert Miller and mother Linda Sue (Corley) Miller, her two children, Jonathon David Abrahams and Kimberly Ann Abrahams, her two grandchildren, Olivia and Owen, and her mother's sister, Marjorie Josephine (Roberts) Yeomans. She had the honor of being the eldest sister to her siblings Keith, Brian, Kathryn Harp, Rebecca Stalcup, Laura Ecker and Daniel. Her legacy will be passed on not only to her grandchildren, but also to her nieces and nephews Rachelle, Caleb, Natalie, Dakota, Charley, Gavin, Holland, Avaleigh, Farah and Ryan. Not to be forgotten are her cousins who had such an impact on her life, Russell Clay Mathis, Carra Jo (Mathis) Alston and Lynne (Yeomans) Craver.

Cynthia was a member of Barbe High School's Class of 1975 and also graduated from McNeese State University with a degree in Marketing. She was a librarian at the Sulphur Public Library for over 12 years and thoroughly loved books of all kinds especially if she was able to share them with others. She loved playing the hand bells at church, watching blue whales, Harry Potter, listening to John Denver, and playing games with her sisters every Sunday after church.

In this life, she was most proud of her children Jonathon and Kimberly. Both were key factors in her determination to beat her cancer. She believed in her oncologist, Dr. Leroy E. Fredericks; she never expected him to work miracles, only to treat her cancer with whatever means that would allow her live her life to the fullest. Though her life was seemingly filled with obstacles, those who knew her recognized that her diagnosis of Stage 4 Breast Cancer almost six years ago was anything but a death sentence. Perhaps it is only once the finish line is glimpsed that one is able to actually embrace all that life has to offer---and embrace it she did! She hated what cancer did to her body, but infinitely more than that, she hated watching what the disease did to innocent children---in honor of this, her family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital (www.stjude.org)

A celebration of her life will be held at Trinity Baptist Church (1800 Country Club Rd, Lake Charles, LA) in the Chapel on Friday, September 13, 2013. There will be visitation with friends and family at 2pm and a short celebration time at 3pm. Following the service, all are invited to remain to share their stories and experiences. All are also invited to join her family in honoring Cynthia by wearing her favorite colors green and/or yellow...and perhaps you will see a pair or two of Keds or Converse as well.

Cynthia's final resting place will be at Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
