Cynthia Diane Miller

February 16, 1940 — September 28, 2020

Cynthia Diane Miller, 80, of Lake Charles LA, passed away on September 28, 2020 in hospice care in Crowley, LA. Cynthia was known as a loving mother & wife and is survived by her husband, Julius Ray Miller, her 3 children, sons Eric Miller and Jason Miller, daughter Kimberly Caton, son-in-law Bonner L. Caton and her beloved grandchildren Bonner A. Caton and Emily Miller, all of Lake Charles, LA.

She leaves behind her siblings Eleanor Anderson, Patricia Healy, and Butch Lunn, and was preceded in death by her brother Craig Lunn and aunt Anna Melvin.  She had a love for working as a substitute teacher for many years in Calcasieu Parish.  Cynthia had a special place in her heart for Barbe High School and the many students she taught over the years, as well as supporting Barbe Football and watching her grandson play sports.  Favorite past times included shopping and enjoying the beach in Gulf Shores, AL.

Cynthia was born in New Orleans, LA on February 16, 1940 to parents Raymond and Juanita Lunn, but was raised in Hammond, LA before coming to Lake Charles to attend McNeese St. University, where she graduated in 1962 with a degree in elementary education.  Cynthia married Ray Miller on August 12, 1961 in Lake Charles, LA. and they were married for 59 years.  She was an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church for many years and enjoyed participating in the sewing circle among many other activities.

The family of Cynthia Miller wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all of her friends and family for their continued support and prayers. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Southwind Nursing Home and Grace Hospice in Crowley. LA as well as Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA for their care and kindness during this difficult time.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Lake City Baptist Church at 3940 Holly Hill Rd. in Lake Charles, LA at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM.
