D. W. "Buddy" Fontenot of Sulphur passed away at 10:40 AM Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in his residence.
Native and long time resident of Sulphur. Through his life Buddy graduated Sulphur High School and attended McNeese State University and The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. He served Stateside in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After being Honorably Discharged he worked as a Drug Enforcement Agent for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriffs Office. For the past 24 years he has worked as a General Contractor with James Fontenot Construction.
Survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Patricia Sue Blake Fontenot; daughter, Tiffany F. Reed and her children, Lexi and Carter Reed; son, Samuel Blake Fontenot and wife Amanda and their children, Samuel Joseph, Liam James, and Jaxson Blake Fontenot; his mother, Myra Fontenot Daniels; brother, James Fontenot and wife Sharon; sister, Bonita Blair and husband Roger; and his mother-in-law, Grace Blake. He was preceded in death by his father Reverend D. W. Fontenot, Sr. and a nephew James H. Fontenot, Jr.
His funeral will be at 10:00 AM Saturday January 7, 2012 at Southside Assembly of God (Celebration Worship Center) in Sulphur. Pastor Max Docusen and Reverend Gary Evers will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Friday in the funeral home and continue Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services in the Church.
