Daisy Bell Askew

September 10, 1954 — October 3, 2010

Daisy Bell Askew, 56, of Lake Charles died Sunday, October 3, 2010 in the comfort of her home, following a brief illness.


Ms. Askew was a lifelong resident of Big Lake and a graduate of Grand Lake High School. She attended McNeese State University and Delta School of Business where she attained a degree in Business. She worked over twenty years for Cameron Parish Mosquito Control where she has been an inspector since 2002. She was also Licensed Real Estate Agent and a Licensed Floral Designer, having owned and operated her shop in Big Lake. Ms. Askew enjoyed fishing and flower gardening. She will be most remembered for her kind heart, giving spirit, and for always putting others before herself. Ms. Askew was a member of Big Lake Gospel Tabernacle.


She will be greatly missed and leaves to cherish her memory, uncle and aunt, Ernest and Florence DeVall of Big Lake; step- brother, Calvin Doucet; three godchildren, Nathan and Madeline Royer and Tuesday Isabella Shaheen, all of Big Lake; 2nd mom, Gwen Kirby and husband Stanley of Big Lake; dear friends, Sandra Daigle and husband J.R. and Jimmy Bell, all of Big Lake; Joanne Humble of Lake Charles; many cousins and friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Katherine DeVall Askew.


Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 6, 2010 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Stanley Kirby will officiate. Visitation Wednesday will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Inurnment will follow in Pujol Cemetery in Big Lake.
