Dale "Dale Mann" Goodman, 78, of Lake Charles, passed away on November 27, 2024. He was a beloved figure in the Southwest Louisiana community, known for his big personality, infectious love for life, and his remarkable career in radio broadcasting. Dale spent over 50 years in the broadcasting industry, leaving a lasting legacy in SWLA.
Dale's career began in 1964 at KPLC radio in Lake Charles, marking the start of a long journey in the world of broadcasting. He went on to work with various stations, including KLCL, Q101, KYKZ, and Gator 99.5. Additionally, Dale ventured into country music management in Nashville, TN. Over the years, he earned countless awards for his contributions to the industry, solidifying his place as a respected figure in local media.
Beyond his radio career, Dale was an active member in the community. He provided announcing services for numerous festivals in the area, including the Rabbit Festival, the Marshland Festival, and the Cameron Wildlife Festival. Dale also had a special relationship with Ducks Unlimited and was deeply involved in local Mardi Gras celebrations, serving as the 2023 Lord of the 12th Night Royal Court.
In addition to his work in broadcasting, Dale was a committed community volunteer. He was actively involved with the Chamber of Commerce, the Calcasieu Council on Aging, and even served as an ordained minister, officiating weddings. His passion for people was evident throughout his life.
Dale retired in 2014 to spend more time with his family, who he loved deeply. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Lori, his children: Kelli Foster (Jason), Mandi Fuselier (Jon), Shantell Habetz (Brandon), Jon Stephens (Ashley), and Ryan LaFountain; twelve grandchildren; and his brother, Aaron "Ladd" Goodman. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Avery Goodman and Lula Mae LeBleu Goodman.
A memorial service will be held in Dale's honor on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Eastwood Pentecostal Church in Lake Charles. Visitation will be open to the public beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Dale will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the countless individuals whose lives he touched throughout his career and community involvement.
