Dale R. Bonin

Dale Roger Bonin, 82, passed away from this life on Thursday, March 1, 2012, with his loving family at his side.


Born in Beaumont, Texas, Mr. Bonin moved to the Lake Charles area in 1944. He worked for Vance Plauche as an electrical superintendent for many years and later for Olin Chemical Corporation as an electrical engineer in their construction department for sixteen years, retiring in 1991. Mr. Bonin was a gifted pianist, and particularly enjoyed classical music. He also loved traveling, fishing, hunting and wood working in his shop. He was of the Episcopalian faith.


He leaves to honor his memory his loving wife of 34 years, Emma Miller Bonin; two daughters, Sheryl Bonin of Lake Charles and Debbie Hunt and husband Peter of San Antonio; one sister, Joyce Conley of Canon City, Colorado; stepchildren, Duane Abshire and wife Barbara of Lake Charles, Darlene Forrest and husband David of Moss Bluff, Danny Abshire and wife Brenda, Marty Abshire, Jr., and Robert Abshire, all of Houston, John Joiner of DeRidder, Donald Joiner of Burnet, Texas, and Pattie Wilson of Spring, Texas; eighteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Old Ritchie Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The Reverend Dr. Mitzi George will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
