Dana Gilley

On Saturday, April 15, 2023, Dana went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Dana was surrounded by his loved ones when he passed from this life into eternity after a long battle with Frontotemporal Dementia. Dana was 55 and the youngest of five boys for Louis Horace "Bud" Gilley (deceased) and Marcia Ann Gilley. Dana's brothers are Louis Dwayne Gilley (deceased), Samuel Kyle Gilley, David Reed Gilley, and Kenneth Ray Gilley. Dana had three children, Grant Tyler Gilley, Ross Michael Gilley, and Erin Anne Gilley. Dana would have had his first grandchild in the coming days, Preston Gilley.

Except for a few years in Houston, TX, Dana lived and worked in the Southwest Louisiana area. His residence was Gillis, LA, where he grew up as a child. He attended Sam Houston High School and studied Business/Marketing at Houston Community College. He coached recreational football in Moss Bluff.

During his career, Dana worked in the building materials industry as a sales representative for several companies. Dana was liked and respected by many in his industry, but most importantly, he was a great father. His kids loved him profoundly and were with him to the end. Dana was raised on a small farm in Gillis, LA, and had known the value of a hard day's work. At birth, his dad said, "I now have a son for each corner of the pasture and one to close the gate."

The family is incredibly grateful to the staff at Harbor Hospice. They provided great physical and spiritual comfort during Dana's final days.

Services will be at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff, LA (2171 N. Hwy. 171) and First Baptist Church of Gillis (678 Topsy Road), officiated by Pastor Glenn George. The burial will be at Ritchie Cemetery II at Clyde Delaney Road and Paul Bellon Road in Moss Bluff. Details are as follows:

• Public Visitation - Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 4 – 8 pm at Johnson Funeral Home
• Public Visitation - Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 9 – 11 am at First Baptist Church of Gillis
• Funeral Service - Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Gillis, with the burial service to follow at Ritchie Cemetery
