Passed away September 5,2013 at his sister's home He jumped into this world on October 24th, 1952 in Sulphur, La., the son of Clifford C. and Martha (Nassar) Doherty. Danny was preceded in death by both parents and is survived by his only sister Margaret Doherty Stevens and her husband Keith of Sulphur. Danny was a US Army Veteran and served in Korea. He was an accomplished welder for many years and then went into commercial shrimping. He hunted and fished all of his life with many of the best friends anyone could ask for. Over the years we heard many stories about these friends of his. During his days in the hospital while they visited, we got to hear just as many stories about Danny. When told, he would just smile that crooked grin as if to say.. that's only part of the story!
While Danny had only one sibling, his family of friends was large. Life was an enjoyment to him from the time he first started to walk to the time he took wings to heaven. He lived every day his way and regretted nothing. As Danny would say, we should all be so lucky!
Many Thanks to Heart of Hospice and the Memorial Oncology floor staff for all the Support and Caring with Dignity, given to Danny.
A life celebration gathering will be held for Danny at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church's parish hall on Saturday, September 14 from 2-4 PM. Please join us. Jeans and a T-shirt are recommended attire to honor the Outdoors Man that Danny was!
