Daniel Ray Danny Manuel

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Daniel R. Manuel, 73, who died on Sunday morning, June 3, 2012 in a local hospital.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Father John Huckaby will officiate. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the funeral home. Mr. Manuel will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery.


Daniel was born in Duralde, LA on February 8, 1939. Danny graduated from LaGrange High School where he was All-District and Honorable Mention Running-back on the football team. He proudly coached youth football and baseball. Danny attended McNeese State University and retired in 1997 after thirty years from CITGO Petroleum and was a member of Local #106. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where he made Cursillo in 1979. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, and just "shootin the breeze".


Danny was a great inspiration to all and kind to everyone he encountered. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.


Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Janice Jessen Manuel; two sons, Reagan L. Manuel and wife Darlene and Brent G. Manuel and wife Carol; one daughter, Stacy L. Feldes and husband Brett; his five beautiful grandchildren, Lauren, Courtney and Corey Manuel, and Aubrey and Camden Feldes; and numerous nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Even P. and Mary Ann Manuel; and his grandson, Blake Louis Manuel.
