Daniel Roberts

Daniel E. Roberts, 69, of Sulphur died on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in his residence.


Mr. Roberts was born on August 22, 1942 in Lake Charles. He lived in the Lake Charles/ Moss Bluff area until moving to Sulphur 7 years ago. Mr. Roberts was a graduate of Marion High School. He was a truck driver most of his life and most recently was owner and operator of Roberts Trucking. He was of the Protestant Faith.


He enjoyed fishing, rodeoing, four wheeler riding, and camping with his wife. Mr. Roberts had a special interest in old classic cars and had bought and re built one. He was a wonderful husband and he loved his children and grandchildren.


Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 7 years, Diane B. Roberts of Sulphur; two daughters, Beatrice Denise Chapman of Alexandria and Kelly LeJeune and husband C.J. of Moss Bluff; his mother, Ruby Thompson of Lake Charles; four step children, Alisa Johnson of Baton Rouge, Julie Dyer of Lake Charles, Christa Haymark and husband Wade of Houston, and Amy McElroy and husband David of Richmond, VA; six siblings and their spouses, James Roberts and Becky of Moss Bluff, Ricky Roberts and Nelda of Houston, Donald Roberts and Janet of Houston, Jerry Roberts and Wendy of Lake Charles, Melvin Roberts and Kelly of Houston, and Charlotte Ann Roberts of Pineville; six grandchildren, Kolby LeJeune, Raven Roberts, Micah and Tiger Chapman, and Rodney Daniel and Rachel Marie Roberts; nine step grandchildren, Katie and Rebekah LeJeune, Maegan, Madison, and Mackenzie Johnson, Aiden Ellender, Audrey Haymark, and Brennan and Caylin McElroy; and three step great grandchildren, Hannah and Andrew Givens and Weston LeJeune.


He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sheila Roberts and his father, Melvin Roberts.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 31, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Chris Wales will officiate. Burial will be in New Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the start of the services.
