Daphne Simmons

Daphne Marie Simmons, 85, passed away on September 4, 2018 in the comfort of her home.  Daphne was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss since 1983.  She was a great cook and an avid reader.  Daphne loved crocheting and sewing and playing solitaire. 

Daphne is survived by her two children, Catherine Whaley and husband Douglas of Sulphur and Karole Borel and husband Michael of Groves, Tx.; daughter in law, Ronalda Simmons of Vidor, TX; 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Herbert “Jimmie” Simmons, her son, Michael Simmons, her parents, her sister, Jeanette Watson, and her brother, Odis Vincent.    

Funeral services for Daphne will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss with Father Luke Krzanowski officiating.  Burial will follow in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly, LA.  The family will receive friends on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 5-9 PM with a rosary at 6 PM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home and will resume on Saturday from 8 AM until time to leave for the church.
