Darlene Watson

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Darlene Francis Watson, who left us far too soon at the age of 59 on April 3, 2025. Born on March 16, 1966, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Darlene lived a vibrant life full of love, laughter, and compassion.

Darlene was the proud mother of two daughters, Leslie Carrion and Elizabeth Hunt, and the devoted grandmother to ten adoring grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Doyle Watson, and her sister, Dawn Watson. She now joins her parents, as well as her beloved sister and brothers, in eternal peace.

Darlene will be remembered for her radiant smile and the joy she brought to everyone around her. She had a heart as big as her personality-she loved deeply and gave selflessly. Her passion for helping others shone through in everything she did, especially during her time working with the mentally ill at Volunteers of America-a job she often called her favorite. Later, she poured that same love and energy into her own business, cleaning homes and brightening the lives of the people she served.

She was happiest surrounded by nature, fishing, and spending time outdoors. And above all, she shared a special bond with her dog, Thor, whom she treated like her own child. The love between them was unconditional and fierce.

Darlene's presence will be deeply missed, especially the long phone calls, the laughter, and her cherished reminder: "I love you more."

To honor her life and memory, we invite all who knew and loved her to join us in remembering Darlene as she was-joyful, strong, and full of life. A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM. at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St, Lake Charles, LA 70605. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to the beginning of services.
