Darnell Arnold

Darnell Arnold was born on May 19, 1949 to parents Ina Elaine Edwards and Adam Arnold. Darnell entered fully into the presence of the Lord on July 2, 2023.

He was greeted in Heaven by his daughter Sarah Arnold, his parents Ina Elaine Edwards and Adam Arnold, and his brothers Charles Wayne Arnold and Orville “Little Lynn” Lynn Arnold.Darnell found his love for God when he was saved by God’s Grace as a young boy living in Saint Martinville. He was a selfless person with a kind, loving, and giving heart that always put others before himself. He spent many years serving the Lord at Sale Street Baptist church, First Baptist church of DeQunicy, and New Hope Baptist church. Darnell studied the word of God for himself and shared that faith with his family and friends. Darnell was an example of the love of Christ in every aspect of his life. He never left anything unsaid and made sure that each of his loved ones knew how proud he is and how loved they are.

Darnell leaves behind a legacy of love and faith in God with is beloved wife of 55 years, Eva Gay Gypin; his children Lea Mechele Nortman (Mark), Stephanie Gay Hooper (Waylon), and Stephen Darnell Arnold (Tiffany); ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; his siblings Billie Faye Williams (Gerald), Richard “Ricky” James Arnold (Andrea), Kathy Gail Arnold, and Christopher Adam Arnold; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at New Hope Baptist church in DeQuincy LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM at New Hope Baptist church and continue until start of the service. A graveside service will begin at 3:30PM in Flatwoods Cemetery in Flatwoods LA.

Pallbearers will be: Sean Bean, Matt Bean, Chet Nortman, Tanner Hooper, Ethan Arnold, and Hunter Nortman.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ayden Hooper, Owen Bean, Tyson Hooper, and Samuel Bean.

Darnell’s family would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude for all the care rendered by Heart of Hospice staff during this time at home on hospice care.
