Darrel "Doc" Witherwax

Darrel Witherwax, 76, of Lake Charles, LA passed away on September 18, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Darrel, or “Doc” as he was affectionately known by his friends, was born in Woodlawn, LA on September 19, 1941 to Edward and Edna Racca Witherwax.

Darrel served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and then attended Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, TX. He was married for 52 years to Carolyn Meche Witherwax and they have five children. Doc owned and operated the Chiropractic Arts Center for 32 years before joining Palma Construction Company.

Darrel is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Meche Witherwax, and their five children, Don (Mona), Duane (Dawn) Dusty (Hannah), Derick Witherwax, and Darolyn (Jeff) Johnson. Those who will especially miss Darrel are his seven grandchildren, Sydney, Cade, Cameron, Hunter and Seth Witherwax along with Tyler and Jacob Johnson. He also leaves his siblings, Eddie (Anna) Witherwax, Ladd (Kay) Witherwax, Jona (George) Daigle and Tera Witherwax.

Pall Bearers will be his grandsons, Cade, Hunter, Cameron Witherwax, and Tyler and Jacob Johnson. His granddaughter, Sydney Witherwax will be an honorary Pall Bearer.

The family will receive friends at Johnson Funeral Home from 5-8PM on Thursday, September 20, 2018 with a Rosary being recited at 6PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 12-1:30PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church at 2PM, officiated by Msgr. Daniel Torres. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Iowa, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
