Darrell Ray Penny

Darrell Ray Penny, 49, of Lake Charles passed away at 5:50 PM on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in a local hospital.

Mr. Penny was born on January 31, 1967 in Lafayette and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a 1985 graduate of Barbe High School and attended McNeese State University. Mr. Penny was employed by Turner Industries for 25 years and was safety manager. He was a member of Sale Street Baptist Church.

He enjoyed being around people and considered everyone as his family. He was an avid LSU fan and McNeese baseball fan. His priority in life were his children and he cherished his time spent with them.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Amy Beth Schmidt Penny; two daughters, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Penny (fiancé Bryce Kingsley) and Reagan Alyssa Penny; and a son, Samuel Kai Penny all of Lake Charles. He also leaves behind his mother, Alice Ann Herrin Penny of Lake Charles; and four sisters, Lynn Randall (John) of Houston, TX, Pam Iatesta (Henry) and Julie Reina (Paul) all of Lake Charles, and Lesli Hartley (Matt) of Coppell, TX.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Raymond Penny.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Sale Street Baptist Church. The Rev. Kent Shepherd will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday in the funeral home from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will resume on Saturday in the church beginning at 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
