Darrell Wayne Ellender, 57, of Lake Charles, passed away, Tuesday morning, at his residence.
Mr. Ellender was a native and life resident of Lake Charles and a graduate of LaGrange Senior High School. He attended McNeese State University for a short time before going to work for Bell South. He retired from ATT as a cable splicer after thirty-three years of service. Mr. Ellender was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a member and past president of the Calcasieu Conservation Association (CCA), and a member of the Delta Waterfowl Association.
He is survived by one son, John Merrick Ellender and his parents, John "Pic" and BeBe Ellender all of Lake Charles.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 Thursday, October 13, 2011, at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Reverends Ronnie Estes and Gary Evers will officiate. Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles is in charge of arrangements.
