Darren Craig Caillouet

February 28, 1967 — January 7, 2018

Darren Craig Caillouet, 50, of Lake Charles, died suddenly on Sunday January 7, 2018 in Singer, Louisiana.

Darren was born in Lake Charles, a 1985 graduate of Barbe High School, and a 1991 graduate of McNeese State University. He was a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), having practiced at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in Deridder, Lucas County Hospital in Iowa, Southwest Texas Endoscopy Center in Beaumont, and most recently back home at Christus Lake Area Hospital. Darren enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, and fishing. As an avid outdoorsman, he recently became a passionate member of the Louisiana Blood Trackers Association along with his partner, Miko. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Lake Charles.

Darren is survived by his wife and best friend of 26 years, Jenet, and together they have been blessed with two children, Megan and Michael; his parents, Winston and Linda of Frisco, Texas; and two sisters, Traci of Lake Charles and Wendi Beadle and husband, Scott, of Frisco, Texas. Nieces, nephews, and many friends are also left to cherish and honor his memory.

Darren was a kind, gentle, caring and remarkable man. He was always willing to help and became an instant friend to anyone he met. He had a special way of making people laugh, he was able to do almost anything he set his mind to and strived to do it to perfection. While his education drove his career, and allowed him to be an exceptional provider, he was self-taught in so many other skills. From running marathons, to being a rodeo dad, to becoming a K9 handler, he could do it all. He was a true, talented jack of all trades. He inspired his family and those around him with his versatile life>

Megan and Michael especially want to acknowledge what an incredibly special dad he was. He supported them in anything and everything they ever wanted to do. He shared his knowledge with them and taught them so many skills that they could enjoy together. Darren and his son, Michael, shared a special bond for their love of the outdoors and enjoyed so many memories hunting, fishing, and exploring the land. Darren passed down his compassion and care for others in both Megan and Michael. He took them both on many adventures and truly wanted them to excel and accomplish all of their goals and dreams. He was a lifetime athlete and instilled his love of sports in each of them cheering them on every step of the way. Megan and Michael were privileged to have the best dad in the world.

As a spouse, he was Jenet’s “Knight in Shining Armor.” He was the person she could always rely on and the rock that kept her strong. She has been and always will be so incredibly proud to be his wife. Together they have been a picture of God’s marriage blessing; each one strengthening the other. In their shared faith, they knew they were soul mates. As a wife, she was always amazed by all of Darren’s talents and his commitment to God, his family, and their marriage. He fulfilled her dreams and his destiny as a husband and a father and a son.
